About the Symposium
Welcome to APES 2026.
The Asia-Pacific Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Society (APES), established in 1997, aims to advance research in Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR/ESR) and to foster scientific exchange among spectroscopists throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Continuing this mission, the Society organises the biennial Asia-Pacific EPR/ESR Symposium, which provides an excellent platform for sharing scientific ideas and promoting collaboration among researchers who employ the full range of EPR/ESR techniques—spanning experimental and theoretical approaches, from fundamental physics and chemistry to materials science and life sciences.
We are also delighted to announce that the 2026 Symposium will be jointly organised with the Society of Electron Spin Science and Technology (SEST) of Japan. SEST was founded in 2002 through the combined efforts of several national research communities, including the Magnetic Resonance Section of the Physical Society of Japan, the ESR Discussion Group, the Magnetic Resonance Medical Society, the Japan Free Radical Society, the In Vivo ESR Research Group, and the Applied Measurement Society. Like APES, SEST serves as a central hub for a wide range of academic and technical exchanges related to electron spin, and it will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2026.
From this perspective, we believe that bringing these two conferences together—both devoted to the science and technology of electron spin—will significantly contribute to the internationalisation of research in Japan and to the establishment of global research networks extending well beyond Asia.
